Timeless Beauty

Timeless Beauty features series of fashion portraits that have been inspired by the 1940’s and 50’s portraits of Hollywood actresses. This old Hollywood style has been created in my work through watching films like "What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?" (1962) starring Bette Davis and "Hush...Hush, Sweet Charlotte" (1964) and the BBC TV drama "The Feud: Bette and Joan" screened in 2017.

Other influences have come from photographer Nickolas Muray (1892-1965) and his portraits of the 1920's, 30's also Jane Bown's (1925-2014) style of capturing the moment in her portraits have made key impressions on me.

What I find most appealing in the Hollywood 1940's, 50's portraits is the soft focus, timeless beauty these images capture. These portraits are my interpretation in the 21st century of catching that glamourous inspirational beauty, which is an escapism for todays time.
